So here is the announcement of our new project and in honor of the project our online sale of the week will work a little differently so please read below:
Brazenly Radiant Art (BRA)
You can make a difference!!
Fiber on a Whim has decided to take the Atlanta Breast Cancer Challenge put forth by It's the Journey, Inc. Simply make a 5 x 7” piece of art using whatever medium you wish and donate it to Brazenly Radiant Art (BRA) sponsored by Fiber on a Whim for It’s the Journey, Inc! It’s the Journey, Inc is a non-profit organization located in Atlanta, GA. They support local research, awareness, and support of breast cancer. FOAW will start collecting all donated artwork immediately. Please make sure it is some of your best. Your donation will be put up for online sale as early as June 15, 2008. Fiber on a Whim Shop Hop Challenge 2008
“Fiber Voyage”
Featuring the Hoffman Exclusive Atlanta Shop Hop Batiks
For the 2008 Fiber on a Whim Shop Hop Challenge Fiber Voyage, feel free to explore outside the box. You have many options for what you can do. Take an innovative twist on a traditional quilt block, make a quilt of your own design, or even a 3D object. The official fabric is the Hoffman Exclusive Atlanta Shop Hop Batiks.
Prizes:
First Place-$250 gift certificate to Fiber on a Whim and a 1yr subscription to Quilter’s Home OR Quilting Arts
Second Place-$175 gift certificate to Fiber on a Whim
Third Place-$100 gift certificate to Fiber on a Whim
Judge’s Choice-1yr subscription to Quilter’s Home OR Quilting Arts (winner’s choice) and Fabric Packet

Rules:
1. At least 25% of the body of the entry must be made with the 2008 Atlanta Shop Hop Batiks, using a recognizable amount of at least 2 of the fabrics as an integral part.
2. Any other fabrics from any manufacturer may be used to complete the piece.
3. Judging will focus on originality and creative use of the Atlanta Shop Hop Batiks as they relate to the other fabrics, visual impact, and workmanship.
4. To be considered for judging, entries must be able to be a part of an exhibit during the Original Sewing & Quilt Expo in Atlanta, GA in October 2008. Approximately 15 to 20 entries will be selected for the exhibit. Quilts selected for the exhibit will be returned upon completion of the show.
5. Your entry must be received by Fiber on a Whim at 326 Sandy Springs Cir, Atlanta, GA 30328 by August 1, 2008. Notification of winners and exhibit participants will be made September 3, 2008.
6. Only one entry per person will be accepted for the Shop Hop Challenge 2008.
7. The entry must be accompanied by a $10 entry fee and a signed copy of the official entry form. The entry form and fee must be included with the delivery of your entry whether by hand or by shipping. If you wish to have your item shipped back to you instead of picking it up please include return shipping. (Make checks payable to Fiber on a Whim)
8. The quilt/item can be of any shape, but the combined total of all sides of the quilt cannot be less than 48 inches nor more than 180 inches (for example a 12” x 12” quilt equals 48” a 45”x 45” quilt equals 180”). If it is a 3D item it can not be more than 30” wide or tall.
9. The quilt must have a sleeve attached to the top back for hanging. The sleeve opening must be 4 inches wide after it is attached to the quilt and must not show when quilt is hanging.
10. The entry must have an identification label securely fastened to it. The label must contain the same full name, address, and title of entry that appears on the entry form.

There is no restriction on photography of piece by individuals for their own enjoyment however you do retain copyright on piece. Promotional photography of entry and/or use of photographs at the discretion of Fiber on a Whim or the Original Sewing & Quilt Expo is permitted.
